If you unable to access the options, manually edit GraphicsSettingsDX9.ini or GraphicsSettingsDX11.ini (depending on which DirectX mode is used) in %USERPROFILE%\ Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5 to the correct resolution (1024x768 minimum). To fix this, go into options and change the game resolution. Sometimes after installing the game, the game resolution will be larger than the screen and parts of the game will be cut off. If anti-aliasing is enabled and this issue is present (causing the screen to be black), you can edit GraphicsSettingsDX11.ini to fix this. It is recommended to enable anti-aliasing through graphics software and not the game. 10.4.3 Game crashes randomly on some Ryzen CPUsĮnabling anti-aliasing on DirectX 11 mode may cause the game to turn black.10.3.5 Issues with resolution (screen cutoff).10.3.4 Black screen (anti-aliasing issue).10.3.2 Crash and BSOD with DX11 fullscreen on laptops.10.2.2 Windows and macOS version mismatch.10.2.1 Multiplayer games dropping or disconnecting during play.10.1.1 Mods disappear, fail to download. The last we heard was that it was going on sale to buy the whole of Civ VI dirt cheap, than silence. Before the last DLC pack, Firaxis was huge on comunication and working on fixing bugs., but after the last DLC, they passed things to 2K (who has a wretched reputaion for not fixing bugged games) and walked away to go work on the marvel game. Many had to dump all their mods just to get the game to run for more than a dozen turns.ĥ. The launcher also has major compatibility issues with mods. This also increases instability in some cases when bypassed. It uses a ton of system resources (much more than Steam, which is why they have the same issues on Epic and in other game distributors) It also was connected to Civ 6 in the last DLC update and allows the launcher to backdoor it's way into activating, even when bypassed. This is currently the biggest problem creator of the lot. The best fix for this is an SSD, plenty of RAM, and a good net connection.Ĥ. While Steam is the best way to get and run most games, it does use system resources, which can sometime affect this already power-hungry game. In some cases, there are Mods to help, in others, you just have to take your chancesģ Steam. You have to be sure that every DLC you have is completely updated and some get glitchy is certain circumstances. This is the fault of Firaxis, who refused to share the the coding with modders, like they had in Civ V (which is far more Mod-friendly)Ģ DLCs. The more mods you run, the greater chance you have of glitches. It sucks, but often mods cause the game to become unstable. There are a number of things that have contributed to the instability of the game. Anyway, I always move my video recordings after each game onto an external drive. 200 GB is a lot of remaining space, but it seemed to struggle. I've discovered when SSD space remaining drops below 200 GB, it struggles. I asked on thread if anyone found a solution. Just One More TURN!?! feeling comes back! Hours pass, and I never even notice! I have not had any trouble with game sense I discovered that. Some one said it's because, when Firaxis has a connection detected with it's servers, they constantly run status checks to see how game is running! IDK WHY!!! But!? IT WORKS! When I play, I go offline now! I can play 2-4 hours at a time, without moving my video recorded files onto external, and the game runs JUST FINE! I still make sure to keep things updated regularly. Play OFF LINE! For some reason the interaction between Steam-Game-Firaxis (game loading window) some how complicates the game running process. I seen a suggestion from someone I could NOT believe was SOOO simple! If single player that is. All sometimes help, but it used to still crash! Per other suggestions, I always make sure my drives are updated, my windows has the latest update installed, occasionally I double check the integrity of the game through steam. I used to have the same problem about 1 to maybe 1.5 hours into a game, Recently, I seen a thread talking about the same thing.
